Highland Night

Another shot from the night shoot on Saturday night. The Milky Way and night sky from Highland Lighthouse in Truro, MA. The red light marks the top of a radar dome that was part of the North Truro Air Force Station (now abandoned) that was operational from 1951-1994. The radar site is now a FAA VORTAC installation.

The brilliant summer Milky Way rises out of the North Atlantic behind Highland Lighthouse. Located in Truro, Massachusetts within the Cape Cod National Seashore, this location is home to some of the last remaining dark skies on the US east coast. Captured on May 31, 2014
