Launch of NASA's Orion EFT-1

Earlier this month I freelanced for Astronomy Magazine and was able to capture and witness the launch of NASA's new Orion spacecraft aboard the massive 238ft tall United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket.  Launch occurred at 7:05am EST on December 5th from Pad 37 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.  More images can be found at this link:  http://www.abmedia.com/astro/EFT-1/

Night at Wood End Lighthouse

I trekked out to Wood End Lighthouse near Provincetown in late October to capture the Milky Way and night sky over this remote outpost.  It was a beautiful evening with a clear sky and mild temperatures.  Captured with the Canon 6D and either the EF 24-70mm 2.8L or Samyang 14mm 2.8 lens.  Images are available for sale as stunning metal prints.  Email me for details!

Wedding under the Milky Way

I've been waiting years for this shot to come together. Everything fell into place last weekend... a clear, dark, star filled sky with the Milky Way, no Moon, good horizon to the south and an awesome bride and groom! This is looking south out over Vineyard Sound with the lights of Vineyard Haven dotting the horizon. I told Grace, the bride, I'd deliver the most bad ass wedding photo she's ever seen.  She agreed! :) I love it when my two passions come together, astrophotography and wedding photography!  This is a single time exposure shot with a Canon 6D and 14mm f/2.8 lens. Congratulations to Grace & Sean for tying the knot!!!

Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2014

I'm honored and humbled to be included in this year's Astronomy Photographer of the Year publication! An international photography competition consisting of some of the best night sky photographers on the planet, my image of "Father & Son Observing Comet PanStarrs" was shortlisted and a finalist image out of over 2500 entries.
